 KOMPERDELL HIKING POLES

Telescoping hiking poles and walking staffs by Komperdell of Austria reduce stress on your joints, increase safety and heightens endurance. The 3 section telescopic poles are constructed of an extra-light, yet strong, aluminum alloy with a non-corrosive lock and adjust system. The poles have tungsten carbide tips with a Vario-basket system to change the basket from summer to winter (comes with hiking basket, snow baskets are optional). Various poles feature a compact grip with an 8 degree corrective angle for quick and easy pole plants. Hiking poles are often referred to as trekking poles.

The anti-shock poles feature a shock absorbing mechanism with an on/off option to lock out the mechanism when not needed (as in long uphill stretches.) The antishock feature provides all of the benefits of the shock absorbing function when descending on hard and rocky terrain.  You can turn off the the antishock feature when climbing on soft terrain.

Contour grips are made of EVA foam.  The grips are sweat absorbing and extremely light weight.  The additional grip zone makes it possible to hold the pole shorter on traverses or steep angles without adjusting the overall length.  Ergonomically shaped with 8 degree corrective angle.

The antishock strap is a neoprene padded, buckeless strap with an integrated flex zone for extra cushioning.

The Vario Basket System allows you to use the same pair of telescoping poles in summer and winter.  You can easily change between summer and winter baskets and adapt them to different conditions with just a short twist, even in low temperatures.

Bockadam Hiking Pole Bag

A great way to protect your hiking pole so it can continue protecting you.  The Bockadam hiking pole bag is assembled of 200 denier rip stop with an insert gusset of ballistic cloth at the bottom to prevent pole tips from protruding through the fabric.   The Boackadam measures 30 inches in total length, necks down from 5 inches to 3 inches in width and 2" in height.   The lid extends 6 inches down the front and is securable by a 3/4 inches SRB to keep things tight.   Manufactured by Equinox in the US.

We have a limited supply of slide on basket holders for Komperdell Hiking Poles that do not use the integrated tungsten tip assembly.  The slide on holders that we have left in stock are for baskets without indents and looks like a bottle cap.

Komperdell Threaded Part 12 for Titanal Poles

The white plastic threaded part 12 is used with the expanded nut 12 and is part of the Komperdell adjusting mechanism that allows Titanal telescopic poles to be adjusted.  Threaded part 12 fits the top of the Titanal lower section of a Komperdell hiking 3 section pole.

Titanal.HF  Alloy

TITANAL is lighter, slimmer, stronger

From the basic properties, TITANAL was the ideal choice for Komperdell's new expedition weight poles. In an exclusive partnership with AMAG rolling and European aluminum processing companies, KOMPERDELL developed the new TITANAL.HF series. The high frequency welded and drawn tubes of the TITANAL .HF series enable Komperdell to reduce the weight and outside diameter of our poles without sacrificing rigidity and maximum extended length of these new, expedition weight poles.

To compliment the new shaft, the new TITANAL.HF poles feature only the most modern KOMPERDELL components such as EVA Contourgrips, neoprene padded straps and our ultralite Vibra Stop shock absorbing system.  These features characterize Komperdell's  new TITANAL .HF series – the poles for the 21st century.

TITANAL, one of the strongest aluminum-alloy was exclusively developed in Austria in the early 1990s. Today, TITANAL is used in products and industries which require unique properties such as low weight and highest tensile strength

"Why Use Telescopic Hiking and Trekking Poles?"

The demand for hiking poles is increasing as they become more important for outdoor sports like hiking and trekking.  A study made by Dr. Muller of  the Institute of Sports Sciences at the University of Salzburg about the function of hiking poles indicates that they relieve the strain on knee joints and muscles and offer additional security for outdoor adventures. 

Dr. Muller concluded that the use of telescopic poles for hiking, trekking and touring in steep and rough terrain relieved strain of the knee joints and muscles.

In addition Dr. Muller indicated:

In addition with telescopic hiking and trekking poles you increase your stamina when going uphill.  The muscular systems of arms and shoulders relive and support the muscular system of the legs.  The regular walking rhythm with the pole leads to calm breathing, increasing your stamina.

Often hiking in a more upright position enables the lungs to function more efficiently.

Instructions on How to Use Hiking and Trekking Poles

1.    On flat terrain:   Adjust the pole's length so that your arms are at a 90  degree angle.

2.    On traverses:    On downward slopes--  lengthen the pole

                              On upward slopes--shorten the pole

3.    Downhill:  Increase the length of the poles to avoid stretching and bending when placing the poles.

4.    Uphill:  Reduce the length of the poles to ensure that you are not overstretching when placing them.
